Russell Crowe educates Americans on how to use everyday Australian slang in hilarious video
Russell Crowe hilariously gave a lesson for Americans interested in learning a thing or two about Australian and New Zealand slang.
In a video for video for, Crowe — who was born in New Zealand and primarily lived in Australia — ran through some common slang words like "bugger all" and "budgie smugglers" that many people, not from Australia, may not be familiar with.
"It's Russell Crowe, talking to you about slang from two cultures that I'm very, very familiar with," he began. "The New Zealand culture, which in this terminology is 'Kiwi', and the Australian culture, and this terminology is 'Aussie'."

The word "carked it", he explained is another way of saying that something is "not very nice" and that "you're dead."
The Hollywood actor moved on to "bugger all" which he said "means basically nothing, you have nothing. What do you have, mate? Bugger all, you have nothing."

Crowe also introduced classic Australian clothing items like "jandals", "stubbies" and "budgie smuggler."
Crowe held up the buzz word for "jandal", and mentioned that "jandals in Australia are called thongs."
"So a jandal and a thong is the same thing, however it's not the American thong, it's footwear so jandal and a thong are the same as flip flops."
He continued: "Stubbies are a particular brand of work short that contractors used to wear. They also refer to a particular type of beer bottle."

Meanwhile when referring to a "budgie smuggler", he said: "It's just somebody's observation a Speedo fits your average man the same way as it would be if he had a small budgie (bird) stuffed down the front of his pants. They tend to have swollen chests, and round heads, that potentially push out against such a sheer material."
