'I wish I was the father you needed': Rob Schneider responds to daughter's comments about his parenting

Rob Schneider has admitted he was not the father his daughter needed. 

The actor candidly addressed the allegations his daughter, pop star Elle King, made against his parenting after she was asked about her famous dad in an interview.

Speaking in a preview on The Tucker Carlson Show podcast, Schneider began: "It's fun being a parent, isn't it?"

"I want to just tell my daughter: Elle, I love you, and I wish I was the father of my 20s that you needed, and clearly I wasn't."

The Saturday Night Live continued: "I hope you can forgive me for my shortcomings. I love you completely.

"I love you entirely and I just want you to be well and happy, you and your beautiful baby, Lucky.

"I wish you the best. I feel terrible, and I just want you to know that I don't take anything you say personally."

When Carlson appeared impressed that Schneider wasn't shifting the blame, the Daddy Daughter Trip actor explained, "You just—I love her. And all I want for her is to be happy and to heal from this."

Schneider's confession comes after King spoke about her childhood on Bunnie Xo's Dumb Blonde podcast.

"I was, like, a really, really heavy child. My dad sent me to fat camp," she revealed.

"And then I got in trouble one year because I sprained my ankle, and I didn't lose any weight. Very toxic and very silly."

The Ex's & Oh's singer added that there were "four or five years" where the pair didn't speak to one another. 

"I disagree with a lot of the things that he says. You're talking out of your ass, and you're talking s--t about drag and, you know, anti-gay rights, and it's like get f---ed," she said.

"He's just talking out of his ass, and I want to use this opportunity to say that I disagree. I do not agree with what he says."
