Rihanna and Chris Martin's dinner date

He's newly single and she, well, she's Rihanna. Coldplay front man and Gwyneth's estranged husband Chris Martin was spotted out with bad gal RiRi this weekend and it's left us wondering… was this a date?

The two were careful to arrive and leave separately from Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, California on Sunday night but they certainly looked cosy as paparazzi snapped photos through the window of the Italian restaurant.

This is the same joint where the 26-year-old pop star notoriously snubbed Charlie Sheen the other week. It looks like Chris had a bit more luck, sharing a private dinner with Rihanna.

While a romance between these two would be super exciting, the meeting was probably more business than pleasure. The pair previously worked together on Coldplay’s 2011 album Mylo Xyloto, so whatever the nature of their new collaboration, we like it!
