Inside the unlikely friendship between Richard Wilkins' son and Karl Stefanovic's girlfriend

Despite being one of the most talked about women in Australia right now, Jasmine Yarbrough remains a closed book.

The 33-year-old shoe designer -- who this week made her very first public appearance with boyfriend Karl Stefanovic at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week -- has a close inner circle, and one that includes an unlikely face.

We're talking about Christian Wilkins, the son of TODAY entertainment editor, Richard Wilkins, who just so happened to be walking the runway on Monday, when the high-profile couple made their official debut.

Jasmine's friendship with the 22-year-old aspiring model became apparent earlier this year, around the time rumours began to surface she was dating 43-year-old Karl.

And since then, their friendship has remained a point of curiosity.  

First, they were snapped greeting each other with open arms at Sydney airport in March. Christian and his dad Richard, who enjoys a close friendship with his TODAY colleague Karl, were picking up the couple after a weekend getaway in Brisbane (where Jasmine's parents live).

It was a smooth operation as paparazzi fought to get a picture of the couple -- who had not yet made their relationship public -- with Christian whisking his gal-pal to valet parking, while Richard and Karl were left to collect luggage.

But aside from acting as a decoy for the couple, Christian also hangs out with Jasmine on the regular.

With her fashion business based in Los Angeles, and Christian regularly frequenting Tinseltown for industry events, the pair appear to have formed a tight-knit bond.

In April, while Karl attended his brother Peter Stefanovic'sPeter Stefanovic's, Christian shared a series of selfies of the duo to his Instagram story, that showed them hanging out in LA.

And just this week, they caught up at the Misha Collection X Myer Party were they snapped rubbing shoulders with other fashions VIPs.

While we're yet to discover how their friendship begun, it sure seems to be blossoming into something special!
