Rebel Wilson slams Sydney's 14-day lockdown: 'You can't keep locking down as a strategy'

Rebel Wilson has strong opinions about Sydney's two-week coronavirus lockdown.

The Pitch Perfect star, 41, blasted the NSW government via her Instagram Story on Sunday, claiming that "locking down" isn't the best strategy to eliminate COVID-19.

"Sydney, WTF !!!" she wrote alongside a selfie.

Her second post, taken by her mum in NSW, showed a photo of empty shelves from panic buyers at a Woolworths supermarket. "Mum took this at Woolworths," she wrote with the snap.

"You can't keep locking down as a strategy," she added in her final Story.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced a two-week lockdown on Saturday, saying her hands had been tied by the escalating outbreak of the Delta variant of coronavirus, after "putting everyone on notice" for a wider Sydney lockdown that morning.

Residents of Greater Sydney, the Central Coast, the Blue Mountains, Wollongong, and Shellharbour are now subject to stay-at-home orders.

"We're never afraid to take a decision that we need to take to keep our citizens safe and even though we don't want to impose burdens unless we absolutely have to, unfortunately, this is a situation where we have to," she said.

The number of cases linked to the Bondi cluster has grown to 110.
