The meaning behind Psalm West's name, the fourth child of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

Kim Kardashian confirmed over the weekend the name she and Kanye West had chosen for their fourth child and second son: Psalm West.

In an Instagram post, the 38-year-old reality star shared the message West had sent to their loved ones over Mother's Day, which included the first image of Psalm, who was born via surrogate on May 10.

"Beautiful Mother's Day," West wrote in the message. "With the arrival of our fourth child we are blessed beyond measure. We have everything we need."

From his name alone, it's clear that Psalm has biblical origins — "psalm" means "song" in Hebrew.

"Kanye has been going through a spiritual revival lately. Every name has a meaning that is personal between Kanye and Kim and the child," a source told People of the baby's moniker. "Psalm is a good reflection of where Kanye and Kim are spiritually."

The source added that Kardashian and West collaborate on the names they choose for their children, just like all parents. "Kanye would never just choose a name that Kim doesn't like, or vice versa," said the source. "The names are things that they mutually agree upon."

Psalm joins older siblings North, five, Saint, three, and one-year-old Chicago.

West has been sharing his spirituality on a large scale in recent times.

The 41-year-old musician brought his 'Sunday Service' to Coachella on Easter Sunday, where he debuted a new song, 'Water', and performed songs including 'Jesus Walks' and 'Ultralight Beam'.

Kardashian and West's daughter, North, has also become a star of West's Sunday Service, whether she's bopping along to the music or even taking a mic and singing.
