Paulina Porizkova's empowering message after topless magazine cover: 'A woman who refuses to be shamed'

Supermodel Paulina Porizkova has shared an empowering message with fans, after gracing the cover of Elle Czech topless at the age of 58.

Porizkova, who wears nothing but silver body paint to protect her modesty on the cover, says she feels like a ''powerful woman" after deciding to strip off for the camera on her own terms.

Porizkova, who was one of the top models in the '80s, says she is "a woman who is not ashamed for being exactly who she is. A woman who refuses to be shamed".

In a lengthy Instagram post sharing the cover, she wrote: "I have done many covers this year I'm very proud of, but this one is special."

"Yes, I'm topless; but the silver paint on my skin is like an armor. The silver deflects darkness and reflects light - but allows me to feel everything."

"As long as it is MY choice to undress, it actually makes me feel strong."

She said in her post that she has "nothing to hide" and feels "powerful" in that decision.

"After this shoot, I asked my love, Jeff, how it made him feel to see me so exposed on a set. 'You were the most powerful person in the room' he replied," she added.

"And that is what I see in this photo. A woman who is not ashamed for being exactly who she is. A woman who refuses to be shamed. I do not feel like this woman every day. But this is the woman I'd like to become."

The supermodel has championed ageing gracefully and often shares empowering messages with her followers.

It comes after Porizkova celebrated her 58th birthday with a cheeky nude photo on Instagram.

She captioned the photo with a candid message about ageing gracefully.

"I begin my 58th year with nothing but sunshine and a smile," she wrote.

"And the hope that the best is yet to come, and nothing but gratitude for all that has brought me here to the now."

Porizkova added: "Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes! Although twenty hours of my birthday were spent traveling – it was SO worth it. (Total bonus points for anyone who can figure out the toy reference😉)."

The Czech-born model was inundated with birthday wishes after sharing her naked snap.

Porizkova was the first Central European woman to cover the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue back in 1984 and has gone on to model for the likes of Chanel and Hermes.
