Unfortunately, when Melbourne went into lockdown four weeks ago, Bert's family were unable to visit him in hospital.

His daughter Lauren Newton shared the news in an Instagram post on June 3.

"So glad we got to have lots of visits before lockdown. The kids are missing Poppy," the 40-year-old actress wrote, captioning a photo of her dad alongside Lola, nine, Monty, five, Perla, two, and Alby, 10 months.

There has been no word on when Bert will be out of hospital as of yet.
