Pamela Anderson has shared the heartbreaking reason she disappeared years ago.

Anderson has been in the spotlight since her days on Baywatch in the '90s and more recently for making waves leading the make-up free movement.

But in a new interview with Better Homes & Gardens, the star, 57, said she disappeared to her homeland Canada in 2020 after struggling with her public image.

"A few years back, I kind of gave up at some point and needed a change," she shared while speaking to the outlet about her latest accomplishment – writing a new cookbook.

"I thought, Well, I guess that's just what people think of me. I was not in a good space when I moved back to Canada."

"I don't know what happened over the last few decades, but I feel now so far removed from the image of who I was," the actress and philanthropist admitted.

Anderson was born in Canada in 1967 and spent her childhood there.

In her 2023 documentary Pamela, a Love Story, the star reflected on her rise to fame, decades-long career and her infamous 1995 sex tape.

In the candid new interview, Anderson said she was "very sad and lonely" and reached a point where she wanted to "move home and disappear".
