Nine confirms <i>Australia's Got Talent</i> won't be back

The Nine Network has pulled the plug on Australia's Got Talent.

TheFIX got the official word from Nine after industry website Mumbrella broke the news that the show was axed.

A Nine spokesperson said: "We will not be producing Australia's Got Talent this year."

Nine acquired the rights to AGT from the Seven Network and rebooted the show with new judges Geri Halliwell, Dawn French, Timomatic and the only returning judge Kyle Sandilands.

Falling ratings and high-production costs are thought to have led to the show's axing, Mumbrella reports.

AGT trailed in the ratings up against Seven's X Factor. However, 1.4million metro viewers still tuned in to see Uncle Jed crowned as the winners of the seventh season of AGT.
