Daniel Johns debuts romance with drug offender Michelle Leslie as she's detained in LA

Michelle Leslie, the Australian model who was jailed in Bali in 2005 for possessing ecstasy, has now been detained in America.

The 36-year-old checked into a Virgin flight at Sydney International Airport on Saturday with her boyfriend, Silverchair's Daniel Johns.

However, when the duo landed at LAX, she seemed to have an issue at the automated passport kiosk.

After a goodbye kiss, the former Silverchair frontman, 38, left his girlfriend with an officer who escorted her away (as seen in the video above).

The reasoning for her detainment is still unknown.

Michelle and Daniel reportedly began dating last October after meeting through mututal friends.

In May, Daniel posted a single photo of the two of them to Instagram.

"Without music, life would be a mistake - Friedrich Nietzsche," he captioned the shot.

Michelle shared the same photo on her account, but both have stopped short of confirming their romance until now.  

The model previously made headlines in 2005 when she was jailed in Bali after police found two ecstasy pills in her handbag.

She was subsequently imprisoned in Kerobokan jail in Denpasar, Bali for three months.

Following her jail release, Michelle attempted to rebuild her public image, modelling swimwear at Australian Fashion Week in 2006.

She later launched a clothing range for dogs, before marrying event manager Adam Zammit. However, the couple split two years later due to irreconcilable differences.

Today, she runs an interior design business, specialising in high-end, luxury commercial and residential spaces.
