'All a parent wants': Why Mandy Teefey 'can sleep at night' after daughter Selena Gomez's wedding

Selena Gomez's mum says she can sleep soundly at night knowing her daughter has found a safe and caring love.

In September, Mandy Teefey watched the singer marry her partner Benny Blanco in a "flawless" ceremony in Santa Barbara, California, and she "couldn't be happier".

"It was the best night, the best wedding. It was just beautiful, flawless," she tells nine.com.au.

"They have such love for each other. It's apparent and it's obvious.

"To see her glow like that is all a parent wants. She just glows, she's happy and I can sleep at night because I know she's being loved by someone who truly cares."

As she recalls her daughter's big day, Teefey can't help but gush about record producer Blanco. 

"He's a great son-in-law. He's great to everyone," she says.

After tying the knot, Gomez gave fans an insight into her fairytale wedding with a series of magical photos on Instagram.

The Only Murders in the Building star wore an old Hollywood-style halter-neck satin gown, with her shoulder-length hair styled in elegant waves. 

Other photos from the ceremony show Gomez wearing a delicate lace gown with a flowing veil and another Marilyn Monroe-style gown.

The beauty entrepreneur wore three looks altogether. Meanwhile, Blanco wore a Ralph Lauren suit.

Gomez shared the photos from the day to her Instagram with the caption "🤍 9.27.25 🤍".

The wedding was particularly poignant for Teefey, who raised her daughter under the watchful eye of millions.

Teefey is the CEO of mental fitness organisation Wondermind and often jokes running the business is "harder than raising a kid in Hollywood", but admits that's certainly not the case.

"Being with [Gomez] every moment up until the age of 18 was imperative for me and my husband," she says of her experience raising a famous daughter.

"We were like, 'If we want her to stay grounded and to stay solid, we have to be there.'"

She recalls one moment when her daughter was walking outside in the rain and someone offered to carry her umbrella for her. Teefey made sure Gomez carried her own.

She was intentional about ensuring Gomez did not get that kind of special treatment.

"[I was like] what if this goes away and she doesn't know how to hold an umbrella or she doesn't know how to pump her own gas?" she says.

All of that aside, Teefey couldn't be prouder of the woman Gomez has grown up to be.

"She's been so blessed and she's a hard worker and just a lovely person to work with," she says. 

"She's been working for 20 years consistently and that's really a rarity in our industry.

"I always get in the proud mum moment when people ask me questions about her but I'm just so happy to see the person that she's become."
