'A classic example of how not to honour someone': Madonna's BBMAs Prince tribute ridiculed by fans
It's been almost a month since iconic artist Prince left our mortal world, and the 2016 Billboard Music Awards honoured his legacy with a live tribute by Madonna and Stevie Wonder. But, unfortunately, it failed to hit the right note for many viewers.
Clad in a statement paisley tuxedo and backed up by a full orchestra, Madonna looked over the BBMAs crowd from atop purple throne as she paid homage to her fallen friend.
While some found it "extremely heartfelt", and "wonderful", there were more haters than lovers taking to Twitter to share their opinions on the Material Girl's rendition of 'Nothing Compares 2 U', calling her performance "off-key", "underwhelming", and "boring as hell".

The only moment of salvation during the awkward performance was Stevie Wonder's surprise arrival for a dramatic "Purple Rain" duet, which had the star-studded crowd singing along.

But still not everyone was convinced.
