LeAnn Rimes reveals she sought treatment for 'deep codependency' issues, gets candid about mental health struggles
LeAnn Rimes has opened up about the toll the spotlight and her role as a performer has taken on her mental health.
In a candid interview with Insider, the 39-year-old country music star spoke about her struggles navigating fame and the bout of mental health issues she has battled as a result.
"Being in the public eye from the time I was very young and having to override my humanness, I think, was a huge part of my experience with anxiety and depression and what was triggering it," she confessed.

Rimes, who hosts a podcast centred around mental health called Wholly Human, admitted she quickly found herself in "dark place" and had "never been alone" to confront her issues head on.
By the time she reached 30, the singer had checked herself into a treatment facility to help clear her head.
"It was just time," she shared. "It was time for me to break away from my deep codependency and to figure out what was chemically going on to be able to take care of myself."
The 'Can't Fight the Moonlight' singer has dealt with a lot of public scrutiny in the past, most notably when she was blamed for the breakdown of Eddie Cibrian and Brandi Glanville's marriage in 2009.
Rimes and Cibrian sparked affair rumours when they co-starred in the movie Northern Lights. Complicating matters, Rimes was married herself to dancer-turned-chef Dean Sheremet.

The duo's affair ended both of their marriages, with the pair then boldly tying the knot in 2011.
As the singer moves forward with her life, nearly eleven years on from the cheating scandal, Rimes says she now focuses on her own "needs and desires and limitations" in life instead of "allowing it to structure me."
Rimes has previously been very open about her mental health struggles, talking to therapist Amy Morrin on The Verywell Mind podcast in 2021 about her unhealthy experience returning to the stage after the pandemic.
"I don't think I've ever been off the road for 16 months like this, at one point, for a solid period of time. I went back out to do my first show recently in front of thousands of people. I was so triggered," she told Morrin.

"I'm like, oh my God, the experience that I'm having right now is so intense. And it was also like, nothing happened. I walked out, it's like riding a bike, it didn't feel like there were 16 months in between.
"I recognised when I went out, how unhealthy some of this [was]. I'm like, this is not the normal experience that I'm supposed to be having, and I've been having this heightened, energetic experience for my whole life."
