Laura Csortan is setting the record straight.

The 40-year-old television personality hit back at claims she is romantically connected to Anthony Bell following an article that insinuated the celebrity accountant could be the father of her seven-month-old daughter, Layla Rose.

"I woke up this morning to the most hurtful and cruel article by Annette Sharp," the former Miss Universe Australia wrote alongside a picture of the article on Instagram. "No Mother, let alone a single Mum should be put through an insinuation like this just because they support a friend unconditionally that is of the opposite gender."

The mother-of-one, who has remained mum on the paternity of her daughter since her birth in November proceeded to lay out the hard facts.

"Fact: Layla's father is presently living overseas and does not wish to be dragged through the media. Nor is it anyone's business."

The Sunday Telegraph article was accompanied by paparazzi shots of the duo hanging out on the Gold Coast enjoying a long lunch, beach time, and allegedly staying at a "luxury beachfront house".

Laura continued, "Fact: Anthony is one of my closest friends and we are not (nor have we ever been) in a coupled relationship."

The article follows Anthony's very public five-year marriage breakdown to ex-Getaway presenter Kelly Landry, whom he shares two daughters, Thea and Charlize.

Last month, after a series of bitter court proceedings, a magistrate dismissed an application by police on behalf of Kelly for an Apprehended Violence Order against Anthony. In handing down his decision, NSW magistrate Robert Williams acknowledged Anthony engaged in intimidating actions against his estranged wife, but that he was not satisfied the evidence supported an AVO or any other order.

Erin Molan was also dragged into the proceedings.

Laura described Anthony as a "dear friend" who is going through "a most painful relationship breakdown".

She signed off by stating that she was not even given the opportunity to respond to the insinuations of Sunday Tele journalist Annette Sharp.

"These accusations are heartbreaking to say the least," she continued. "I just hope they don't affect my daughter or Anthony's two girls for that matter down the track."
