Lady Gaga has clapped back at her old classmates who doubted her future success.

The singer is a global pop sensation and actress with undeniable hits like Poker Face, an Academy Award win, 13 Grammy trophies and even more accolades to her name.

We know her as the megastar Lady Gaga – but before all her success, she was once told by her university classmates she would "never be famous".

During her time studying at New York University's Tisch School of Arts, some of the singer's classmates made a Facebook group titled "Stefani Germanotta, you will never be famous" – using her real name, Stefani.

Gaga had dropped out of the university after three semesters to pursue music.

Now years later, the pop star has finally responded to the viral group group.

One fan recently posted a TikTok video listing all of Gaga's awards and career milestones followed by a screenshot of the discouraging Facebook group to show just how far the star had come and proved them wrong.

"No matter who you are there will always be people jealous of you and against you. You have to dust your shoulders off and keep going even when you feel like THE WHOLE WORLD is against you. ♥️" someone else wrote.

Lady Gaga launched onto the music scene in 2008 with her debut alum The Fame, which featured timeless hits like Paparazzi, Just Dance and Poker Face.

The iconic album won the star her first two Grammy Awards for Best Dance Recording and Best Dance/Electronic Album.
