'We are heartbroken': Billy Crystal 'heartbroken' after losing his home in LA fires

Billy Crystal has confirmed his longtime home in the Pacific Palisades neighbourhood has burned down amid the raging Los Angeles fires.

In a devastating joint statement with wife Janice, the When Harry Met Sally star, 76, confirmed the reports his property had been destroyed and said "every inch of our house was filled with love".

The pair, who had lived in the home for more than 40 years, said they are "heartbroken," but praised the efforts of firefighters and called the community of Pacific Palisades their "home".

"Words cannot describe the enormity of the devastation we are witnessing and experiencing," the statement, obtained by The Hollywood Reporter and People read.

"We ache for our friends and neighbors who have also lost their homes and businesses in this tragedy."

The pair, who have been married since 1970, said their house is and was "full of love" and memories.

"Janice and I lived in our home since 1979. We raised our children and grandchildren here," they said.

"Every inch of our house was filled with love. Beautiful memories that can't be taken away.

"We are heartbroken of course but with the love of our children and friends we will get through this.

"We pray for the safety of the fire fighters and first responders. The Pacific Palisades is a resilient community of amazing people and we know in time it will rise again. It is our home."

Other stars who have lost their homes include the likes of Paris Hilton, Anna Faris and James Woods.

Hilton said on Instagram to fans that she watched her Malibu home "burn to the ground" while watching the news on TV, and said it was "something no one should ever have to experience".

"While the loss is overwhelming, I'm holding onto gratitude that my family and pets are safe," she said, vowing to help her Los Angeles community.

Anna Faris' representative confirmed to People her home had been destroyed, but said: "Anna and her family are safe and very grateful."

The Hills stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag revealed they had lost their home as the fire devastates the star-studded area.

"I'm so sad our house is gone," Montag said in one heartbreaking TikTok video.

The disaster was declared a "state of emergency" and five people have reportedly died so far in the fire.

Thousands have been told to evacuate to safety, while it's been reported approximately 23,000 live in the area of Pacific Palisades.
