Kylie Minogue sends 'big love' to Jason Donovan as their duet Especially For You turns 32

Kylie Minogue can't believe it's been more than three decades since she and former flame Jason Donovan released their hit song, 'Especially For You'.

The 52-year-old pop star marked the track's 32nd year anniversary by sending "big love" to her fellow Aussie on Instagram. 

"Hard to believe, but Especially For You turns ... wait for it ... 32!" she captioned a throwback from their cover photoshoot. "Big love @jdonofficial and all of you who have memories of this song. What does it mean to you??"

The duet certainly resonated with many of Scott and Charlene's Neighbours fans. The couple played the onscreen lovebirds on the Aussie soap back in the '80s and also dated for three years off set before splitting in 1989.

But the memories will remain for both Minogue and Donovan.

"32 years ago this classic was released and completely changed not only my life but the millions of people who see this song as the soundtrack to their youth!" Donovan also reflected on Instagram. "Just one of those tunes that makes you feel so good."

Although their careers took them on different paths, the pair always remained close.

They even delighted fans two years ago when Minogue headlined the Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park concert in London and randomly invited Donovan to sing 'Especially For You' on stage with her.

"I literally turned up on my bike to support my friend @kylieminogue and next thing you know I'm onstage @BBCRadio2 Hyde Park in front of 70,000 people recreating those dance moves Especially For You 1988 .. mad! Loved every second. Thank you for all your support. Memories = magic," he tweeted at the time.

Then in June this year, Minogue wished Donovan a happy 52nd birthday on Instagram, reiterating their close bond. 

"Happy birthday Jason!!! We go back such a long way now. What amazing times! Working with the 'grown ups', learning lines, giggling on set with Guy and the team, travelling the world. Etc ETC!!!" she recalled while sharing a series of throwback images of the pair.

'Especially For You' was released in 1988 and reached number two on the ARIA charts.
