After only 11 minutes on air this morning, radio shock jock Kyle Sandilands stormed off his hit KIIS FM show.

Listeners of The Kyle & Jackie O Show were left confused after hearing Sandilands blow up at newsreader Brooklyn Ross and co-host Jackie 'O' Henderson.

It came after a discussion between the trio over COVID-19, which saw Sandilands disagree with Henderson.

When Sandilands, 52, revealed NSW Premier Chris Minns had cancelled an appearance in the studio due to testing positive to COVID-19, an argument kicked off.

As Henderson, 48, claimed COVID-19 was "just like the flu," Sandilands became agitated.

He reminded Henderson that in the past, she had been extremely cautious, before telling her she would probably isolate herself if she experienced COVID-19 symptoms.

Henderson responded: "I'm allowed to change my opinion."

Sandilands then angrily said that she should have some "consistency" in her opinions regarding COVID-19, declaring he was going home for the day before abruptly leaving the studio.

Henderson then said: "Well, that escalated quickly".

Executive Producer Pedro Vitola then confirmed Sandilands had gone home before Henderson continued, "What's happening today? I'm telling you, this full moon, it messes with people".

The show then broadcast repeats of old segments for the remainder of its time slot.

Despite most of the argument being bleeped out by the show's censors, listeners could hear Sandilands leaving and refusing to come back.

The on-air tiff came less than a week after the Sydney-based duo signed a 10-year deal live on air for $200 million, extending their reach to Melbourne.
