Kobe Bryant's widow Vanessa says 'life truly isn't fair' in heartbreaking tribute message

Vanessa Bryant has shared a heartbreaking post to mark four years since her late husband, Kobe Bryant, retired from the NBA.

The grieving widow relived the milestone moment on Instagram, sharing a "Mamba Day" video of Kobe's last game for the LA Lakers after a stellar 20-year career.

However, Vanessa couldn't help but think how unjust it was for his life to be tragically cut short following a helicopter crash on January 26. Kobe was just 41. The couple's 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, and seven other passengers, also perished in the fatal accident.

"My husband worked his a-- off for 20 years. Gave it his all. All he wanted was to spend time with our girls and me to make up for lost time," Vanessa, 37, wrote alongside the video. "He wanted to be there for every single milestone and special moment in our girls lives. He only got to enjoy 3 years and 9 months of retirement."

The couple share four daughters, Gianna, Natalia, 17, Bianka, three, and Capri, nine months.

Vanessa said that Kobe was loving retirement, with the couple growing their family and the former NBA star exploring other endeavours.

"We had 2 more daughters, he won an Oscar, he opened Granity studios, he became a 5x best selling author and coached Gianna's basketball team in that time. She worked hard and gave her all 7 days a week just like her daddy," Vanessa added.

"I wish I could [go] back to that morning, every day. I wish they had a normal local game on 1/26. Life truly isn't fair. This is just senseless."

Understandably, Vanessa is finding it hard to accept the loss of her husband and daughter on the same day. Back in February, weeks after the crash, she also expressed her grief on Instagram.

"I've been reluctant to put my feelings into words. My brain refuses to accept that both Kobe and Gigi are gone. I can't process both at the same time," she wrote. "It's like I'm trying to process Kobe being gone but my body refuses to accept my Gigi will never come back to me. It feels wrong."
