KISS legend Paul Stanley reveals why the band is officially splitting after Australian tour

KISS'S frontman has officially confirmed the band will be "calling it quits" after one final show Down Under. 

Paul Stanley, 71, told Deborah Knight on her afternoon show with 2GB the band is going their separate ways following their last-ever Australian show in Sydney on October 7th. 

The final Aussie show was originally slated to take place in Melbourne before Sydney beat out the city for the incredible honour.

When asked how the band members came to the decision to split after five decades together, Stanley made it clear that it was not due to a falling out of any kind. 

"There are people in bands that just don't get along. We're the complete opposite," he said. "We've never been happier. We've never had more fun. We enjoy each other's company immensely."

Stanley added: "But we also know that we've already played 'beat the clock' and won, but how long can you do that for? There are no footballers, athletes, and what have you, at our age, it's just, it's an impossibility, but we've been able to do it." 

Stanley simply commented that "time ultimately wins" and that it was the right moment for the band to go out on a high before fading away. 

"We just thought...let's take the victory lap, and celebrate with everyone who has made this possible".

KISS already performed their Australian farewell tour last year before a petition signed by over 60,000 fans convinced the band to return one more time. 

"You have made your voices loud enough that it was impossible for us not to hear you," Stanley said when announcing the band's return to Australian soil in 2023. 

"As unexpected as this is for us, we will make it unforgettable for all who share the night with us."

Stanley expressed to Knight the band's gratitude and excitement at getting to say a final goodbye to their Aussie fans later this year. 

"It almost has more weight to it this time", he said. "It's amazing to get this opportunity".

The upcoming show at Accor Stadium marks Australia as the only country to the band will return to on The End Of The Road tour.

Kiss has a long-lasting relationship with Australia, first performing here all the way back in 1980 before returning in 1995, 1997, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2008, 2013 and 2022. 

The frontman shared that his love for Australia has remained "unchanged" throughout the years after performing many shows across the country. 

While we might be saying goodbye to KISS, Stanley has quietly confirmed that he will "continue making music".

"I just love playing, I love painting…I love being my children", he reflected on his upcoming retirement. "There's loads of things to do. I'll be the last person sitting in front of the fireplace twiddling my thumbs". 

Tickets for the final KISS Australian show went on sale at midday on May 31. 

Stanley has promised his Aussie fans that they're in for a treat.

"The show will be fantastic. It will be heartfelt. It'll be bombastic," HE SAID.

"It'll be everything that people who know the band have come to expect."
