Britney Spears' ex husband Kevin Federline is supporting the pop star after it was reported yesterday that she checked herself into an "all-encompassing wellness facility" amid her father's health battle.

Federline, who was married to spears from 2004 to 2007, said he "commended" the 37-year-old '...Baby One More Time' singer for seeking treatment during this difficult time. Spears is reportedly expected to stay at the facility for 30 days.

"Kevin commends Britney for recognizing that she needs to take a step back and that she is taking reasonable steps to dealing with her situation in a responsible way," Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan told Entertainment Tonight.

"He wishes everyone well."

Federline, 41, was formerly Spears' backup dancer. The then-couple's whirlwind romance was the subject of a 2005 reality show, Britney and Kevin: Chaotic, which ran for one season. During their time together, they welcomed two sons, Sean Preston, now 13, and Jayden James, now 12. The relationship had its challenges, however, and the couple finalised their divorce in 2007 after nearly three years of marriage.

Spears and Federline have been co-parenting since their split, with Spears recently agreeing to pay Federline "thousands more a month in child support" after months of court discussions, People reported.

It has been reported that Sean Preston and Jayden James are with their father while Spears is seeking treatment.
