In potentially the most random relationship confirmation we've ever seen, Fumio Kishida, who was in office until last year, took to X with a picture and caption that single-handedly broke the app.

The photo shows Kishida and his wife Yuko standing in front of a Christmas tree with Trudeau and Perry, writing: "Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited Japan with his partner and joined my wife and me for lunch.

"During his time as prime minister, we met multiple times as fellow leaders, and when I visited Canada, we worked together to strengthen bilateral relations, including formulating the 'Japan-Canada Action Plan,' sweating it out side by side.

"I am delighted that we continue to maintain this friendship in this way."

The post has already been viewed 17.5 million times in 20 hours and has sparked thousands of comments.

Fans' reactions have ranged from confused to happy, to people demanding the former prime minister refer to Perry as the "pop icon" she is.

Others wrote, "Just say girlfriend."

"Katy, you've made it," another wrote.

Trudeau saw the post and replied, confirming the pop star was part of the meeting as the pair discussed the future of Canada and Japan's relationship.

"Great to see you," the former prime minister of Canada wrote.

"Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko.

"Thank you, Fumio, for your friendship and your continued commitment to both the international rules-based order and to a better future for everyone."

This is the first time Perry and Trudeau have been pictured together in any official capacity.

Speculation of a romance began when the pair were spotted dining together at a high profile restaurant in Montreal, Canada during Perry's visit to the city for her Lifetimes Tour.

Days after, Trudeau was spotted among the audience at Perry's Montreal show on Wednesday July 30.

They've also been papped together on a yacht and at a cabaret show at the Crazy Horse in Paris for Perry's birthday.

Trudeau separated from his wife Sophie Grégoire in 2023.

Meanwhile, Perry and actor Orlando Bloom announced their split earlier this year.
