Kate Langbroek clarifies marital status after 'split' comments taken out of context

Kate Langbroek has been forced to clarify her relationship status with her husband after a comment she made in a podcast episode was taken out of context.

Earlier this week, Langbroek appeared on the second series premiere of PodcastOne's A Life Of Greatness and discussed her upbringing as a Jehovah's Witness, her son's cancer battle and her relationship with her husband, Peter Allen Lewis.

While talking about her husband, Langbroek explained that they had a rocky start to their romance which resulted in a temporary break up.

The radio host said that, at the time, Lewis had a "tendency to be controlling" and that she split up with him for a little while.

News outlets across the country reported on the split — but some had headlines that implied the split was recent.

On Wednesday evening, Langbroek's Hughesy & Kate radio co-host, Dave Hughes, brought up the "split" on the airwaves.

"What the hell is going on?" asked Hughesy, with mock shock.

"Oh my God, now I have to hide every media outlet, every electronic device and every magazine from my husband," Langbroek joked to Hughesy and guest host Denise Scott, who is filling in for Langbroek while she's on annual leave. "I don't want him to know we've split up!"

Langbroek clarified that the split was early in their relationship — well before she and Lewis married and had four children.

"Have you split from your husband or not?" asked Hughesy.

"No," said Langbroek. "I was talking about when we were dating and split up. That was like 18 years ago!"

Langbroek — who lives with Lewis and their children in Bologna, Italy — said that Lewis would probably not see the reports because he has little interest in the media.
