Justin Bieber's ancestry report reveals he's related to Ryan Gosling and Avril Lavigne

A curious Justin Bieber underwent an ancestry check at the weekend and the results were mind-boggling.

As it turns out, the pop star has relatives as famous as he is, with a report from a genealogy site revealing he is distant cousins with fellow Canadian stars Ryan Gosling and Avril Lavigne. 

"I also just found out that I'm related to both Ryan Gosling and Avril Lavigne," Bieber captioned a photo of the report on Instagram. "This is the best day of my life.. it seems super legit it's on ancestry.com."

It seems Lavigne, 34, is happy to be linked to the pop star, but no word yet on how 38-year-old Gosling feels.

"I'll host Christmas dinner this year," the Sk8er Boi' singer commented on Bieber's post. 

Meanwhile, his longtime manager Scooter Braun says he understands why the trio are distant cousins. 

"I always saw a strong resemblance," he wrote on the Instagram post.

Back in 2012, People magazine reported that Bieber, Lavigne and Gosling are also related to iconic singer Céline Dion, another Canadian. 

According to the outlet, Bieber and Gosling are 11th cousins once removed, he and Dion are 10th cousins three times removed, and he and Lavigne are 12th cousins. 

This finding was also based on a report from ancestry.com, with the site discovering all four stars have links to the early settlers of Canada's Quebec province.
