Daytime Emmy-winning Judge Judy producer Timothy A. Regler dies at 68

Judge Judy producer Timothy A. Regler has died from heart disease. He was 68.

According to Deadline, the Daytime Emmy winner passed away on June 19 at his home in Carlsbad, California.

A veteran of the TV industry, Regler got his foot in the door as a teenager at Ralph Edwards Productions. He soon made a name for himself as a director/producer before landing the Executive Producer role on the daytime TV show Judge Judy starring American lawyer Judy Sheindlin.

In recognition of his work on the show, in 2013, Regler won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Legal/Courtroom Program. He was nominated 15 other times for Judge Judy and twice in the early nineties for The People's Court.

Earlier this year, on April 21, Jerry Bishop, the longtime announcer for Judge Judy, also died from heart disease. He was 84.

At the time, Sheindlin, 77, shared a touching tribute to her late co-star.

"Jerry Bishop has been the voice of our program for 24 years. Everybody loved him," Sheindlin said in a statement. "He had a golden heart and generous spirit. I adored him and will miss him."

Outside of his TV career, Regler was also a board member of the Los Angeles Music Center's Theater Group, an LGBTQI+ rights activist and a volunteer at a Suicide Prevention Hotline.

Regler is survived by his brother, Thomas Regler, his sister, Penny Brennan, and two nieces Barbara and Peggy.
