Home and Away star Johnny Ruffo undergoes emergency surgery following brain tumour

Home and Away alum Johnny Ruffo has undergone emergency surgery to remove a brain tumour.

The 29-year-old star shared post-surgery images to his 195K Instagram followers, writing, "Some things in life really put things into perspective, hoping for a positive result, keep me in your thoughts x."

The singer and actor got his big break on the third season of The X Factor Australia where he placed third. But he's best known for his role as Chris Harrington on Home and Away.

Speaking to Daily Mail, Johnny said he first went to hospital on Sunday with complaints of a migraine however, it turned out to be far more serious.

"I had to have emergency surgery to have a brain tumour removed," he told the publication on Thursday.

His management confirmed he is awaiting to see whether the tumour is "benign" or "malignant".

Fans were quick to voice their concern for the actor and commented with their well wishes.

"Stay strong Johnny you are a incredible human being," one user wrote.

The former Cleo Bachelor of the Year has been dating dancer Tahnee Sims, 23, for almost two years.

The rising star discussed the transition from singing to acting, as well as his role on Nine's teleseries House of Bond, during an appearance on the TODAY show earlier this year.  

"I've always wanted to try my hand in acting so the transition was fairly natural," he said.
