Emmy-nominated actor John Gabriel of soap Ryan's Hope has died at 90
American actor John Gabriel, best known for his role as Dr. Seneca Beaulac in long-running television soap opera Ryan's Hope, has passed away. He was 90.
His daughter Andrea Gabriel confirmed the news of his passing via a post to her Instagram account on Monday.

"It is with an unspeakably heavy heart that I share the news of my father's passing," Andrea's caption began.
"John Gabriel was my hero, my role model, and my champion, but above all, my daddy. …I will love you forever. ✨"
John's role as Dr. Beaulac on Ryan's Hope spanned almost 15 years from 1975 to 1989.

In 1980, he was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for his role on the soap opera.

John also made appearances in television shows such as Days of Our Lives, Law & Order, Seinfeld, Murder, She Wrote and General Hospital.
He also starred in films such as The Hiding Place and The Return of Superfly.

As well as being an actor, John was also a keen singer and lyricist.

He starred as Mark Adams in 1970's Hell's Bloody Devils, a film that he also wrote the theme song's lyrics for alongside composer Nelson Riddle.
Similarly, John wrote the theme song and starred in 1966's El Dorado and 1958's The Hunters.

John also appeared in two Broadway productions, The Happy Time and Applause, as well as Off-Broadway's Fighting International Fat.

John and his actress wife Sandy Gabriel of All My Children — whom he is survived by — worked together professionally in the early 2000s.
The couple wrote and produced a nightclub act Words And Music in 2004, which he regularly toured across the United States of America. It was taped in 2010 in Los Angeles.
As well as wife Sandy and daughter Andrea, John is also survived by his other daughter Melissa.
