Full House and The Godfather Part II star John Aprea dies at 83: 'Many will miss this man'

Actor John Aprea, known for roles including The Godfather Part II, has died at the age of 83, it has been confirmed.

His manager reportedly confirmed the news to TMZ, revealing the American star died at his home in LA from natural causes.

The star, also known for Knots Landing and Full House, died earlier this month on August 7.

He is survived by family including his wife Betsy Graci, his daughter Nicole and his stepchildren.

Aprea was born in New Jersey but his parents moved to the US from Italy.

At the start of his career, he relocated from New York to Los Angeles to pursue his acting dream.

One of his first roles was in the film Bullitt in the '60s, but one of his most iconic roles was in The Godfather Part II, released in 1974 directed by Francis Ford Coppola and co-starring the likes of Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Diane Keaton.

In The Godfather Part II, he portrayed the young Tessio and the role helped put him on the map.

Some of his last acting credits including the TV series The Bay, and the Full House spin-off Fuller House.

In Full House, he portrayed Nick Katsopolis.

He also appeared on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Days of Our Lives, NYPD Blue, The Sopranos and Melrose Place during his career.

Knots Landing star Paul Carafotes paid tribute to Aprea on Instagram, sweetly writing: "We had lots of laughs."

"We met on the set of CBS television show Knots Landing, 1987 Over 40 years ago. Many will miss this man! Rest old friend. I'll see you on the other side."
