Candid Camera and General Hospital star Joan Benedict dies at 96
American actress Joan Benedict Steiger has died at the age of 96, it has been confirmed.
According to multiple US publications, the late star's death was announced by a family spokesperson.
Benedict Steiger reportedly died in hospital in Los Angeles on June 24, from complications from a stroke.

She is survived by her daughter and granddaughters.
She was married to late American actor Rod Steiger from 2000 to 2002 and before that, late star John Myhers from 1962 to 1992. She also dated late actor Jeremy Slate.
Benedict Steiger was known for her reoccurring role as Edith Fairchild on the long-running soap General Hospital.

Hailing from New York, she started her career via theatre before going into TV and film. But before that, she studied ballet.
Benedict Steiger was known for the show Candid Camera, and her role on the American variety show, the Steve Allen Show. She was also known for the short Let's Call it Quits.
In recent years, other shows she appeared on include the soap Days of Our Lives and her latest acting credit was in the 2017 film, Opus of an Angel.
In 2010, she spoke about her life and acting career to Fab Over Fifty and said her most favourite star she ever worked with was late husband Rod Steiger.
"He was such a fantastic actor. He would say to me before a scene, 'Just react,' which is one of the basic principles of acting," she explained.
She also spoke about her health and fitness and said at the time that she would still take tap classes "three times a week".
"Dancing has always been a love of mine. I've done it since I was seven," she said.
