Jared Padalecki shocks fans by calling Phillip Seymour Hoffman's death 'stupid'

Supernatural star Jared Padalecki has been slammed for tweets suggesting that Philip Seymour Hoffman's death was "stupid" and "senseless."
Soon after hearing of the star's passing, Padalecki tweeted: "Sad isn't the word I'd use to describe a 46-year-old man throwing his life away to drugs. Senseless is more like it. Stupid." All before deleting the post promptly, of course.
And even though the social media blunder had been removed, the actor felt the need to defend himself soon after. "I didn’t mean PSH is stupid or that addiction isn't a reality," he said. "I simply meant I have a different definition of tragedy." Erm, probably doesn’t justify the Twitter faux-pas Jared!?
It's been confirmed that Hoffman died in his West Village apartment on Sunday morning, with a hypodermic needle stuck in his left arm and bags of heroin strewn about his home.
If that's not tragic, we don't know what is…
