'It's serious': Mel B under constant hospital supervision for mystery illness

Mel B is now in a stable condition after being treated for a "serious" mystery illness.

The 39-year-old is reportedly in the high dependency unit of a London hospital with her husband Stephen Belafonte by her side.

"Unfortunately Mel is still unwell," her spokesman told The Mirror. "And following doctors' advice she will not be taking part in Saturday's [X Factor] show. Tulisa [Contostavlos] will join the panel as a guest judge."

The spokesman confirmed to the publication that her illness is "serious".

The star, who was rushed to hospital by her driver on Thursday evening with stomach pains, is also said to be struggling emotionally from the ordeal.

"Mel is in a terrible state," a friend told The Sun. "Physically and emotionally. She is very weak and is being given treatment to help her with the pain."
