Hugh Hefner's son Cooper hits back at 'salacious stories' as he defends Playboy founder in wake of shocking docu-series
The son of late Playboy founder Hugh Hefner has defended his father in the wake of the new documentary series, Secrets of Playboy.
In a Twitter post, Cooper Hefner did not directly name the 10-part series or the US network A&E, who interviewed the mogul's staff and inner circle for the project. But he did hit back at the "salacious" stories being told about his dad.
"Some may not approve of the life my Dad chose, but my father was not a liar," Cooper, 30, tweeted. "However unconventional, he was sincere in his approach and lived honestly. He was generous in nature and cared deeply for people. These salacious stories are a case study of regret becoming revenge."

Cooper is one of Hefner's four children. He shared the businessman with ex-wife Kimberly Conrad, who is also the mother of his son, Marston, 31. Hefner also had two older children, Kristie and David, from previous relationships.

The docu-series will feature interviews with former Playboy Playmates, including Holly Madison who dated Hefner from 2001 to 2008. In her segment, the 42-year-old described the atmosphere in the notorious Playboy Mansion as "cult-like".
"The reason I think the mansion was very cult-like, looking back on it, is because we were all kind of gaslit and expected to think of Hef as like this really good guy," Madison said on camera. "And you started to feel like, 'Oh, he's not what they say in the media, he's just a nice man.'

"It was so easy to get isolated from the outside world there. You had a 9 o'clock curfew. You were encouraged to not have friends over. You weren't really allowed to leave unless it was like a family holiday."
