Hilary Duff never shares racy Instagram photos, so when she did post a smokin' hot bikini selfie recently, we were curious to know why.

Chatting to Ellen DeGeneres about the sexy snap, the singer said she was feeling good about her body and wanted to share that with other women.

The star, who filed for divorce from former hockey player Mike Comrie last month, also revealed why she dyed her trademark blonde locks a blue-green shade.

"I've never done anything like this," she said. "And I was just in Cabo with my son and I was staring at the ocean and I was like, 'I want that on my head. So this happened."
