Gwyneth Paltrow says she didn't come up with 'conscious uncoupling' for divorce post

Gwyneth Paltrow has consciously uncoupled from the term "conscious uncoupling". Say what? We thought that was a stroke of Gwyn genius…

The 42-year-old has distanced herself from the headline she used on her lifestyle website Goop to announce her divorce from Chris Martin after 10 years of marriage in March 2014.

In a new interview with Fast Company, Gwyneth revealed it was her editorial director Elise Loehnen who was responsible for that famous nugget of Gwynnieness.

"When I announced that I was separating on the website, [Loehnen] titled the piece 'Conscious Uncoupling' and I had no idea," Gwyneth told the mag.

"When something like that happens, I think everybody is like, 'Oh, s---'. I just tell them that I think we are creating interesting discussions."

You could say that again. Loehnen got the term from a psychologist, but the internet had a field day mocking Gwyneth for the bizarre split announcement.

"I always like it when there's a big response to something because it tells me, 'Oh we've touched a nerve here, this is really interesting'," Gwyneth added. "There are a lot of media companies that would die to have the kind of response that we get from our content."

Another controversial Gwyn post was her "vaginal steaming" advice in January 2015.

"This is a thousands-of-years-old practice in Korean spas," Gwyneth defended the piece, with Elise adding: "It feels good, it's not harmful, it's not like we're urging people to go out and buy AK-47s."

So we're all welcome to have as much conscious uncoupling and vaginal steaming as we like. Phew.
