Frances Abbott announces shock engagement to Olympian Sam Loch

Frances Abbott, daughter of former Prime Minister Tony Abbott, posted that she is engaged to former Olympic rower Sam Loch after just two weeks.

"HEY FEYONCÉ 👋👋👋," the 26-year-old fitness guru captioned a series of loved-up photobooth strip pics with Loch, 34, on Instagram November 19. "Two weeks was all it took to know that forever with you was a mighty fine idea @samloch ❤."

In case there was any doubt what she meant by "feyonce", Abbott helpfully added the hashtags "#engaged #feyoncé #crazyinlove #helikeditsoheputarigonit #allthebeyoncehashtags #whywait #letsdothis #lovelovelove #allthemushystuff".

The shocking news comes one month after the competitive bodybuilder uploaded a spoof Bachelorette audition tape and was forced to clarify that she was not, in fact, looking for love.

"I would not make a good candidate for The Bachelorette... I do not even watch the show," she told Daily Mail in a statement in October. "Currently I do not have time to watch TV nor have time to find a boyfriend... Hopefully one day soon this will change haha."

She also features in the current issue of Harpers Bazaar Australia in which she elaborated on her single status. 

“I always describe myself as ‘so single’, because that’s how single I am," she said. "Like, very, very single. But I also think it’s probably the best time to compete, because I don’t have a guy saying, ‘Let’s go get some dinner!’”

Loch competed for Australia in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic games and appears to be just as much of a fitness buff as his new fiancée.  

Abbott is an outspoken supporter of marriage equality — going against her father's stance — and filmed a video for the Yes campaign in the lead up to the postal survey.
