Zayn Malik reveals he's still close to ex-One Direction bandmate…but the others won't return his calls

The guys in One Direction can apparently hold a grudge, but love seems to have softened one of them.

In a new interview with NME, ex-1D member Zayn Malik reveals that although he hasn't seen any of his former bandmates in one year, he's close to one of them. The rest, however, won't even return his calls.

It's been almost one year to the day (March 25, 2015) that Zayn left the boy band, breaking the hearts of fans around the world and clearly burning bridges with group.

Since then, there have been social media wars, revealing interviews and, for Zayn, the solo international chart-topper 'Pillowtalk'. That hit is what led to something of a reunion between Zayn, 23, and Liam Payne, 22.

"I'm still probably the closest to Liam," Zayn says in the new NME issue, which hits UK newsstands today. "We talk on the phone."

"He congratulated me on my single, which was nice," he added. "I congratulated him on his Brit Award."

Perhaps new love with fellow singer Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has put Liam in a more generous mood. He and the 10-years-older The X Factor UK judge have been dating since December.

As for the others, well, things are clearly still cold as ice between them and Zayn.

"I have tried to contact, but nobody's reached out," Zayn says. "So…whatever."

Hey, at least he's got a new girlfriend, budding supermodel Gigi Hadid, 20.

In unrelated Zayn Malik news, there's a lookalike in Los Angeles who's causing a stir on social media. Shyan Ranje could practically pass for Zayn's twin…in the days when the singer was sporting blond hair.

Though Shyan is clearly copping Zayn's look, right down to the nose ring and smoldering stares, he doesn't appear to be on the celebrity track…yet. He's a junior editor/stylist at DeMan Magazine and Vulkan Magazine.

Judging from the comments on his photos - "Wtf i thought he was zayn," one person wrote - and his 14.4k followers on Instagram, it looks like Shyan's Zayn-ish looks are working in his favour.
