Jared Leto joins Blade Runner sequel, reportedly felt 'tricked' into doing Suicide Squad

Let's hope Blade Runner is a better experience for Jared Leto than Suicide Squad.

Variety reports the 44-year-old star will join Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, and Robin Wright in the sequel to the 1982 classic sci-fi thriller, Blade Runner.

While Jared's role, and the film's plot in general, are being kept tightly under wraps until the film hits cinemas in October 2017, it's a safe bet Jared will be keeping a closer eye on this developing production than he did on Suicide Squad.

During his annual Camp Mars retreat (a casual getaway for fans of his band, 30 Seconds to Mars), the Oscar winner allegedly said he felt distressed by his involvement in the widely-panned comic adaptation, implying he was misled by producers into playing the Joker.

"He was very honest about the film," one attendee wrote on Tumblr. "His disappointment in what he’s learned of the theatrical cut (he’s still not seen the film); feeling sort of tricked into being a part of something that had been pitched to him very differently; thinking it would’ve been more artistic than what it became; feeling overwhelmed by the hate regarding the look and choices."

As for whether there were contract stipulations that prevented him from doing 'dangerous' activities like rock climbing during the film's production?

“Yes," he told a fan in a video clip from the retreat. "And my answer is: 'F--- 'em'."

He can whine all the way to the bank: The star reportedly raked in $7 million for that 'unartistic' role.
