Cate Blanchett on seeing her first movie sex scene in third grade: 'I thought, Ooh, I want some of that'

We've all been there. No one ever forgets the first time they experience true passion in the dark.

For Cate Blanchett, 46, that moment came a little early. The Oscar winner told W Magazine she was in third grade the first time she saw a movie sex scene. She'd gone to the cinema with her parents to see Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder's raunchy 1976 comedy Silver Streak. Not exactly your traditional family movie fare.

Cate's reaction was pretty uncharacteristic. But she and Rooney Mara are likely to inspire a similar response with their intimate scenes in the Oscar hopeful Carol, which opens in Australian cinemas January 13.
