Chris Hemsworth kicks open the door, announces his arrival, in the first Ghostbusters trailer

Jeremy Helligar

Who you gonna call? Chris Hemsworth!

And thank God someone did because the 32-year-old Aussie hunk is our favourite thing in the just-released first Ghostbusters trailer.

The actor also known as the big-screen Thor makes a banging entrance, literally kicking the door in.

Watch the trailer above. Chris' blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment is worth keeping the eyes peeled for.

Of course, Chris only has a supporting role as a bespectacled receptionist in the gender-switching reboot of the 1984 classic about four male ghost fighters. This one is mostly about the ladies.

Melissa McCarthy and her Bridesmaids pal Kristen Wiig unite with fellow funny ladies Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones to take on the fluorescent green spectres.

The trailer has drawn a divided reaction on social media, with some calling it pointless, sexist and even racist. The latter charge is aimed at Leslie's character, a New York City subway worker. She's apparently the female stand-in for the former marine and Ph.D. played by Ernie Hudson in the original.

Ghostbusters will invade big screens in July.
