On September 9, the ’90s girls group dropped a mysterious teaser to their socials sending fans into overdrive.

The cryptic post came as the band, made up of Melanie C, Melanie B, Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham and Geri Halliwell-Horner, celebrated 30 years of their hit single Wannabe.

Fans worldwide were hoping for a reunion announcement, but instead were met with the release of a commemorative Singles Collection album. The move left fans divided.

“Oh gosh. I mean, I’m with you, I’m one of you,” said Melanie C on the hopes of a reunion.

“I want to get out there on the road immediately. I would love to get out there back on stage with the girls, and we talk all the time.

“There’s a lot we don’t have control over, you know, the record company have to do their thing,” she explained. “So yeah, it was frustrating for all of us.”

The pop megastar turned DJ, however, is doing her own part to celebrate with fans and those in need by backing the 2026 Uber x Australian Red Cross Clothing Drive.

“I’ve always loved being in Australia,” she smiled from the seat of the Uber x Red Cross double-decker bus.

“Even more so meeting my gorgeous Aussie husband, and now it’s like my second home.”

But in her nearly 30-year career, she was reminded the Spice Girls as a group have never toured Down Under.

“I know, there are so many fans here it’s insane,” she responded. “There are so many territories in the world we haven’t got to. It makes me so sad.”

So, could a Spice Girls reunion ever be on the cards?

“That’s one of the wonderful things about my solo career is that it does give me freedom, I do tour. Hopefully, I can bring the Spice Girls with me at some point.”

Supporting the cause, Melanie C has donated special pieces from her own Spice Girls wardrobe to Red Cross shops nationwide.

Pieces include a very on-brand “Sporty Spice tracksuit”, a grey sequin suit, and a “little black Gucci dress” straight from the singer’s archives.

The British girl pop group debuted their first album “Spice”in 1996. The album would sell 23 million copies worldwide. PA

“They’re not going to be auctioned,” she teased. “They could be in your local Red Cross down the road.”

But, there are some pieces that would be “hard to part with”, including the iconic orange crop and blue tracksuit from the Wannabe music video.

“I do still have it, I think it might be at my mum’s,” she said of the signature set. “She looks after lots of stuff for me.”

“I mean, you can tell this is a really early pic because we’re not that polished,” she smiled holding a photo from 1996.

“You know, we got a little bit more polished as time went on. But that’s one of the great things about the Spice Girls is that we were a little bit ramshackle.

“We were a bit of a mess, a bit more relatable.”

And yes, Melanie C very much still remembers every move to the ‘Stop’ street dance.  Getty

Through a decades long career, Melanie C has her fair share of iconic looks through the years to go along with her ’98 pixie cut to the “painful growing out of the short spiky hair” era.

“Thank you for reminding me of that phase again,” she laughed. “She was loving a bit of tie-dye for some reason.”

Which is partly why she was parting with her beloved pieces.

“I think I’m like loads of people out there where you keep accumulating things, right?” she explained her support of the campaign.
