Emmys 2019: Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner laughed at by crowd

They have a global audience of millions, but it seems the 2019 Emmys crowd wasn't as appreciative of Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner as their fans are.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians reality stars presented the category for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program at the Emmy Awards.

However, they seemed to be a source for unintentional comedy as Kardashian, 38, took to the microphone after the sisters walked out to Sister Sledge's 'We Are Family'.

"Our family knows firsthand how truly compelling television comes from real people just being themselves," the mother of three started.

The crowd's laughter was audible as Jenner, 23, tried to read her line about "unfiltered and unscripted" stories.

The moment didn't go unnoticed, with many commenting on the awkward scene at the Hollywood event on social media.

"DID THE AUDIENCE JUST LAUGH AT KIM KARDASHIAN," tweeted Toronto radio host Shem.

"I truly thought I head them laugh her for that line. Y'all so shady."

Some, however, didn't think the moment was funny at all.

"Kim Kardashian West and Kendall Jenner got bullied on the #Emmys2019," wrote user @SuperficialHaus.

"Why people are laughing at them? So rude and disrespectful. These people are still not over the fact that the Kardashians are succeeding?"

The sisters presented RuPaul with the Emmy Award for the category, with his series RuPaul's Drag Race taking out the trophy.

Earlier in the night they also walked the red carpet at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, wearing vastly different ensembles.

Kardashian went the classic bombshell route, in a black, form-fitting Vivienne Westwood dress that showed off her famous curves.

She accessorised with several dramatic diamond necklaces, including a bejewelled silver cross.

Meanwhile Jenner debuted a much more edgy, high-fashion look with a latex bodysuit under a floral, couture gown.

Naturally, social media was quick to critique the ensemble, with many comparing the runway model's outfit to a costume from season one of American Horror Story.

Kardashian was clearly excited about returning to the Emmys, sharing several throwback shots of herself and older sister Kourtney on her Instagram stories.

She also tweeted about the time she sung a duet with Jimmy Fallon at the awards ceremony, sharing the clip with her more than 61 million followers on the platform.
