Actress Emmy Rossum welcomes first child with producer husband Sam Esmail

Emmy Rossum is a mum!

The 34-year-old actress and her husband, Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail, revealed in an Instagram post they had welcomed their first child into the world — a baby girl.

"Monday morning, at 8:13 AM, we welcomed our daughter into the world," the Shameless actress revealed, along with a series of photos of her showing off her baby bump and posing with her husband. She also shared an image of the newborn's footprint.

Friends and fans were quick to congratulate the happy couple on their exciting news.

"Congratulations @emmy we are so excited for you!" one user gushed. "Mazel Tov!! sending you all the love."

"How is someone this beautiful pregnant," joked another.

"We couldn't be happier for you all!" another added. "Welcome to the world, little one! You are already so loved."

The couple are yet to reveal a name for the newborn.

Rossum posted another picture of her cradling her bump, captioning it: "Two weeks before our daughter was born."

The couple tied the knot in May 2017, in Manhattan. They began dating in 2013 after she was cast in Esmail's film, Comet.

The pair kept their pregnancy private, with a few rumours circulating they were expecting but no confirmation. The last time they were spotted out in public was during the height of the global pandemic last year.
