'I just don't want you to do this anymore to me': Model Emily Ratajkowski addresses 'feud' with Aussie comedian Celeste Barber

The girls are fighting! But they're not, really. But kind of?

Model Emily Ratajkowski has spoken out about her "drama" with Australian comedian Celeste Barber, revealing it's not necessarily what it seems.

"This whole drama with Celeste has been blown out of proportion… In general, I find her to be really funny," Ratajkowski said in a recent episode of her High Low podcast in response to a listener's question about the 'feud' between the pair.

"But, [the] message I was trying to send to her was 'I just don't want you to do this anymore to me,'" Ratajkowski continued.

"I want to be able to do my thing, whether that be writing about my terrifying experiences in an industry that doesn't protect women and young girls and femme presenting people while also having a bathing suit line," she said.

In case you missed it, in 2021, Barber – who is known for recreating videos and photos of celebrities and models as part of her running #ChallengeAccepted movement – shared a video to social media where she mockingly imitated a video of Ratajkowski.

"We are so sick of you objectifying our bodies! Also, here's my ass," Barber captioned her video, which is prefaced with a topless Ratajkowski wearing a small pair of bikini bottoms and leaning on a pillar.

In 2022, Barber was then asked during an appearance on Fitzy & Wippa if celebrities like Ratajkowski, who Barber regularly imitates for #ChallengeAccepted, appreciate her running gag.

"Yeah, I don't think Ratajkowski is a fan. But that's okay, she's allowed to not love it," Barber told the radio hosts, revealing Ratajkowski had blocked her on social media.

"This was years ago. This was like five or so years ago she blocked me. And look, that's fine."

Ratajkowski, in her podcast this week, also explained the timing of the incident. Barber's 2021 post came shortly after Ratajkowski's essay Buying Myself Back was published by The Cut, whereby she discusses other people profiting off her image and using it without consent. Buying Myself Back was also later included in Ratajkowski's book.

"I was like, 'I'm not giving her my consent for this joke anymore'. It just landed at a specific time for me," Ratajkowski explained, and she noted that while she doesn't have a personal issue with Barber, she does believes that making fun of women who showcase their bodies publicly reeks of inherent misogyny.

"We really love to pick on female influencers, like they are considered the trash, lamest, most cringe, most embarrassing people on the planet," Ratajkowski said.

"I fundamentally find that to be sexist. Yeah, no shit women want to be influencers, it's one of the ways that women have learned to be successful and make money. They're hustling."
