Scorpion and Game of Thrones actor Elyes Gabel arrested after allegedly assaulting and choking his girlfriend

Scorpion alum Elyes Gabel has been arrested for an alleged assault in New York.

The 38-year-old actor was arrested at The Bowery Hotel on May 14 at approximately 1pm, according to court records. He was charged with five misdemeanours and one violation, including one count of assault with intent to cause physical injury.

According to a copy of the misdemeanour complaint obtained by E! News, Gabel allegedly "recklessly" injured and choked his partner. The victim told officers that Gabel spat in her face and called her a "c--t" and "f---ing bitch," allegedly saying, "I'm going to punch your f---ing face in."

"The defendant, with the intent to harass, annoy, threaten and alarm another person, struck, shoved, kicked and otherwise subjected another person to physical contact thereby causing physical injury to such person and to a family and household member of such person," the complaint said, according to E! News.

The Game of Thrones star's lawyer, Stacey Richman, denied the allegations.

"Elyes vehemently denies these allegations. While the claims are sensationalistic, they are not accurate," Richman said in a statement. "Elyes would never conduct himself in the manner alleged. Nevertheless he will not disparage the complainant and looks forward to the facts emerging through the legal process."

Gabel, who played Rakharo in the HBO series Game of Thrones, appeared in court two days after his arrest for an arraignment and was released without bail, according to court records. The judge also issued a temporary order of protection.

The actor's next court date is set for July 7.
