Eliza Paschke opens up about ‘great fears’ ahead of childbirth
The Block’s Eliza Paschke has shared an update about her “great fears” ahead of the birth of her first child.
The 40-year-old, who is about 37 weeks pregnant, said she was “extraordinarily scared of the birthing” and had been dwelling on negative thoughts.

“My thoughts really escalate quickly. I’m a big catastrophiser,” Eliza shared on her Instagram Story.
“I’ll start small and then my head will run wild. So, I don’t wanna wee myself. I don’t wanna poo. I don’t wanna vomit. And then from there we start thinking, I don’t wanna haemorrhage.”
While she was a glass-half-empty type of person, she was pleased her “baby daddy”, Nova radio presenter Clint Stanaway, was the opposite.
“He ensures the cup stays topped up, because we don’t need two crazies spiralling,” she said.
“I know in the moment all will be beautiful and amazing and fine, but I have great fears going in.”
Eliza said she had been worried about sharing these fears because she knew it was “a great honour to be able to give birth”.
“I hate that my head goes to the scary stuff, rather than how lucky I am.”
She shared that her pregnancy scans had not been very positive experiences, so she expected to become especially emotional when she meets her baby for the first time.
“Everything’s okay at the moment, but I haven’t really allowed myself to connect with the reality of there being a healthy baby at the end of this. It’s a real defence mechanism, because I’m still really scared something’s gonna happen,” she said.

“So I think once that moment hits and the baby’s here, I think I’ll finally let myself feel the realness and the joy. There’s been more fear than happiness, and I’m looking forward to the happiness bit.”
Eliza, who returned to TV this year as a guest star on Travel Guides, announced her pregnancy on June 4, a day before she and Clint confirmed they would be co-parenting.

“I’m going to be having a baby with a really good friend of mine, her name’s Eliza, and we’re going to be using a co-parenting model to have this child,” Clint revealed on air on his Jase, Lauren & Clint radio show.
“We’re going to have a different-looking family, but a family that is not going to have any shortage of love in it.”
