‘Lying coward’: Ed Sheeran’s cousin doubles down on blistering attack against singer

Ed Sheeran’s cousin Jethro has hit out at the singer in another blistering attack, calling him “a lying coward” amid the Macklemore fallout.

Jethro Sheeran, who is also a musician and record producer known as Alonestar, doubled down on his stance in an interview with Piers Morgan, where he also insisted he is in no way jealous of his famous relative.

“Seeing what he did to Macklemore, I believe that he kicked him off that show, as I’ve witnessed him being a coward for almost 10 years and lying,” he said in a promotional clip for an episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored.

When Morgan suggested he sounded jealous of his famous cousin and “like he really hates him,” Jethro insisted he still wishes him all the best despite the ongoing situation and their personal fallout.

“He’s very talented and people think I’m jealous, but jealous of what? His looks, his guitar? I mean, I don’t hate him at all. I wish him the best,” he said.

Morgan went on to call Jethro the “Prince Harry” of the situation, adding “you’re sticking it to your own family.”

The video then cut to a clip of Jethro free-style rapping.

Nine.com.au has contacted representatives for Ed Sheeran for comment.

These were not the first comments Sheeran’s cousin has made about the A-Team singer.

Just last week, Jethro confessed he was “ashamed” of Sheeran after Macklemore was dropped from his Loop Tour. He went on to accuse him of being “selfish” and “malicious” in an Instagram post.

“Finally it’s all coming out! I’m ashamed of my cousin Ed – he’s done,” Jethro wrote at the time.

“Finally the world and all his fans see through him. He’s not a good person, I don’t like his music, so I can’t say he’s even a good artist.”

“He’s honestly a selfish individual with malicious, cunning ways… I’m his first blood cousin, and he screwed me over, made fun of my mental health and mental health in general.”

According to Page Six, Jethro also rejected Macklemore’s claim that Sheeran had been pushed into the decision by stadium owners, saying he believed his cousin was responsible.

“In my opinion, he’s a bad human. Just my opinion from my experiences.”

He alleged he had looked out for Sheeran when they were younger and introduced him to music, before accusing the singer of only caring about himself.

“Beware that he’s very calculated and cruel. That’s my honest opinion, and I’m family!!”

The ongoing family attacks are the latest blow for Sheeran after Macklemore was axed from the Loop Tour following his “Free Palestine” declaration during a recent performance.

Macklemore, whose real name is Benjamin Hammond Haggerty, claimed New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft rallied other stadium owners to give Sheeran an “ultimatum” over the rapper’s involvement.

He also revealed he and Sheeran had a “painful disagreement” over the singer’s “typical apolitical stance”.

“We’ve had some difficult conversations this past week. The type of talks rooted in love and respect for one another that still end in a place of fundamental disagreement,” Macklemore wrote.

Sheeran denied making the call to remove Macklemore, saying he spent days speaking with venues to resolve the situation.

“Macklemore coming off tour was the promoter’s decision, it was not mine. Macklemore’s contract for the tour was with the promoter, not me,” he said.

“I would never let down the fans who had made plans, nor would I abandon the touring crew and the other support acts and musicians who rely on me for work and to make a living.”

During his first show after the scandal, Sheeran said he had been “abandoned” by his own family and friends over the situation, but he still got on stage to perform for the 50,000 people who “didn’t abandon him”.
