Hollywood star Dominic Purcell debuts more Aussie inspired ink after wild Penrith tribute

Dominic Purcell has added some more ink to his growing collection, and he’s kept the Australian theme going with his new pieces. 

The English-brown actor, 56, who grew up in Sydney, shared a snap on Instagram showing off his new tattoos and they’ve got a distinctly patriotic theme to them. 

Purcell has added the new pieces to his chest, and thanked the tattoo artist who did them in the post. 

“Thanks to my good mate @jamiegenetattoos for the tats and slapping on one of Australia’s most iconic symbols ‘The Southern Cross’ and of course the ‘Aussie Sun’,” he captioned the post. 

Purcell’s Southern Cross has a permanent spot on his left ribs and stomach, while the ‘Aussie sun’ is on the right side of his stomach.

His wife Tish Cyrus clearly approves of the new ink and commented, “🔥🔥🔥” on the post.

The new additions to his Australiana collection of ink come just weeks after he debuted a mammoth tattoo of the word ‘Riff’ plastered across his upper back in huge block letters.

‘The Riff’, of course, is an endearing nickname for the Sydney suburb of Penrith which locals have embraced.

“Them that know. Penrith ‘the RIFF’. NSW AUSTRALIA. 70’s – 80’s. Always proud of what made me,” Purcell captioned the photo.

His wife was the first of many to comment, and gushed that she was “obsessed” with the new ink piece.

Purcell has always been very proud of his humble beginnings and life Down Under. His parents immigrated to Australia from England when he was just two years old.

They briefly lived in Bondi before permanently settling into Western Sydney, making Penrith their home.

For years, Purcell worked in landscaping before taking a leap of faith and enrolling at the Australian Theatre for Young People and eventually moving across the country to attend the Western Australian Academy for Performing Arts.

In his early career, Purcell emerged in Aussie roles including on Home and Away, Water Rats, and Heartbreak High.

His breakout role was as Lincoln Burrows in Prison Break in 2005 and later transitioned into the DC Arrowverse as Heat Wave.

Purcell tied the knot with Cyrus, mum to Miley Cyrus, in August 2023. The couple reside in an oceanside home in Malibu, certainly a far cry from Penrith.

But, judging by his growing collection of tattoos inspired by Australia, home is never far from his mind.
