'Dance Moms' star Abby Lee Miller may never walk again after cancer battle
Abby Lee Miller might never walk again, following her continual battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
The Dance Moms star is continuing to fight after months of chemotherapy and rehabilitation, but according to a source it looks like it'll be a long road ahead.
"Abby has been trying to stay positive throughout this journey, but it's been tough," the source told People. "She's getting a little stronger every day, but we don't know if she'll ever walk again."
A second source said the TV star "is leaving rehab tomorrow to undergo more chemotherapy. Abby's tough, and she continues to keep her spirits up as she focuses on her health."
After her release from prison five months ago, Miller was rushed to hospital for an emergency laminectomy, or spinal surgery, for what was believed to be an infection in her spine.
But one day after her five-hour surgery, doctors realised Miller was battling non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a cancer that develops in the lymphatic system.
Had surgeons not taken out parts of her vertebrae during her operation, she could have died.
Miller has had a tough two years.
In June 2016, Miller pleaded guilty to bankruptcy fraud for attempting to hide US$775,000 worth of income from Dance Moms during bankruptcy proceedings. While behind bars, she managed to drop more than 45 kilos.
Two days ago, Miller shared a photo of herself in a wheelchair on Instagram.
"Hallelujah," she captioned. "I'm headed to the Mall! I've only been once in 13 long painful months. For a lifelong shopper like me that's absolute torture!!!"
Seasons 1-3 of Dance Moms are currently streaming on 9Now.
