Courteney Cox jokes about 'gracefully' diving into another year on 56th birthday

Courteney Cox has marked her 56th year of life with a splash. Literally.

The Friends star celebrated her June 15 birthday by jumping into a pool head first as the New Radicals' 1998 song, 'Get What You Give' played in the background. But she doesn't exactly score a perfect 10 for her technique, if her Instagram video is anything to go by.

"Gracefully diving into this next year... #oaf," she joked as she face-planted into the water with her legs unsynchronised.

While her famous friends were quick to greet the star a happy birthday on social media — Kate Hudson, Chelsea Handler, stylist Rachel Zoe, just to name a few — best friend Jennifer Aniston was one day late with her greetings. But she made up for it by posting not one, but four Instagram Stories in tribute to the birthday girl.

"Happy birthday to this amazing human I love you, CC. Sorry I'm late," Aniston wrote in the first three photo messages. However, it was her final greeting that brought on a wave of nostalgia. 

"The end," 51-year-old Aniston wrote alongside a photo of them painting each other's nails on the set of Friends.

Cox's other Friends BFF, Lisa Kudrow, also sent her best wishes on Instagram.

"Happy birthday @courteneycoxofficial my genius generous gorgeous grounded great good FRIEND I love you," Kudrow wrote alongside a series of photos of them with their pets. 

"I love you loot!! So much xx," Cox replied. 

This time last year, the three friends spent Cox's birthday together, sharing an image of their outing on Instagram back in June 2019. 

"How lucky am I to celebrate my birthday with these two??? I love you girls. So much," the birthday girl wrote at the time. 

But given that LA is currently in lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, Cox had no choice but to spend her birthday in isolation this year. She still felt the love, though. Check out the greetings she received from some of her A-list pals:
